Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and secure physical environment across the sales floor, front entrance, and exterior property.
Monitor video surveillance systems and utilize handheld technology to detect safety hazards, shortage risks, and theft.
Apply de-escalation techniques and crisis response procedures when addressing conflicts or disruptive incidents.
Perform merchandise theft recoveries and conduct receipt checks in accordance with company loss prevention policies.
Document safety and security incidents accurately and promptly within case management systems.
Greet guests warmly, assist with inquiries, and resolve guest-related concerns to support a positive store experience.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent educational credential.
Compliance with any relevant state and local security licensure or legal requirements.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with guests, colleagues, and emergency personnel.
Physical capability to remain mobile for full shifts, climb ladders, and lift or move merchandise up to 40 pounds independently.
Previous experience working in retail loss prevention, physical security, or law enforcement settings.
Familiarity with operating digital video surveillance software and electronic case management platforms.
Demonstrated background in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and fast-paced customer service environments.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position based in a retail store location in Schenectady, New York.
Work requires a flexible schedule including variable day, evening, weekend, holiday, and peak shopping hours.
The environment involves active physical movement and potential exposure to varying temperatures and weather during exterior checks or drive-up duties.
