In this high-impact role, you will serve as the domain expert for electromechanical commodities, specifically focusing on actuators and motors. You will be responsible for securing the critical components and materials that power advanced defense systems, ensuring that every part meets rigorous standards for quality and cost while maintaining supply chain resilience. Your work will bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing, allowing you to influence technical design specifications and the selection of strategic supplier partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive commodity strategies for actuators and motors to optimize cost and supply chain reliability.
- Lead the end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including RFI, RFQ, and RFP activities for electromechanical components.
- Manage long-term business relationships with external contract manufacturers to ensure continuity of supply and successful product launches.
- Partner with engineering teams to influence technical design specifications and customize manufacturing requirements.
- Perform detailed total cost of ownership analysis on quote submissions to drive data-driven sourcing decisions.
- Negotiate commercial agreements to establish favorable terms for pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance through key metrics related to innovation, cost, and delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 8 years of experience in supply chain commodity management specifically for electromechanical manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in managing the sourcing of actuators and motors.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to visit suppliers and manufacturing sites.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Costa Mesa, California.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Previous experience working within the defense, aerospace, or automotive industries.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS security clearance.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of influencing cross-functional teams toward common goals.
