Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the buildings, guestrooms, mechanical systems, and grounds of a Forbes-rated luxury boutique resort. You will execute scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshoot urgent repairs across various trades, and ensure all guest-facing and back-of-house areas meet high standards of luxury, safety, and craftsmanship. You will work collaboratively alongside housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, and spa teams to deliver seamless guest experiences. Your daily focus will range from handling plumbing, HVAC, and electrical upkeep to responding swiftly to guest maintenance requests with minimal disruption.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on guestrooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and exterior facilities.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, appliances, and lighting.
- Complete interior and exterior building repairs including carpentry, cabinetry, drywall patching, painting, and tile work.
- Maintain swimming pools, hot tubs, irrigation equipment, and general grounds while monitoring utility systems for operational efficiency.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest service requests to ensure luxury service standards with minimal guest disruption.
- Comply with all OSHA, Cal/OSHA, environmental, and life safety regulations while maintaining organized logs and chemical handling standards.
- Monitor maintenance inventory, report needed parts or replacement equipment, and keep engineering tools in safe working condition.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of building maintenance experience in hospitality, commercial facilities, or a related field.
- Working knowledge across key trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and facility maintenance equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and professional communication capabilities for interacting with guests and colleagues.
Nice to have
- Prior maintenance experience within a luxury hotel, resort, or Forbes-rated property.
- EPA certification or formal HVAC training credentials.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) designation.
- Hands-on experience utilizing computerized maintenance management software such as HotSOS or Alice.
Work environment
- Fully on-site role based at the luxury resort property in Forestville / Forest Hills, California.
- Requires physical stamina including frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds (or 75 pounds with assistance).
- Involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings across varying weather conditions.
- Demands a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability for emergency call-outs.
