Overview
In this role, you will serve as the Administrative Nursing Supervisor at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, part of the Desert Care Network under Tenet Healthcare. You will be responsible for overseeing hospital-wide staffing to ensure patient care needs are met, coordinating interdepartmental operations, and responding to emergency and disaster situations during the night shift. As a vital clinical and administrative leader on duty, you will ensure full regulatory compliance and uphold hospital policies across all units. You will act as an operational anchor and role model for the nursing staff, facilitating communication with department directors and hospital administration regarding patient care issues, staffing shortages, and clinical workflows. By participating in hospital performance improvement initiatives and demonstrating calm leadership in critical situations, you will help maintain exceptional clinical standards and operational excellence throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Assess hospital-wide staffing levels continuously to meet patient care needs, regulatory compliance, and organizational policies.
- Deploy and reallocate nursing personnel across departments, managing shortages, floating, flexing, and sick calls in real time.
- Coordinate interdepartmental activities and facilitate smooth clinical and operational workflows throughout the hospital.
- Serve as the primary administrative lead during emergency events, critical incidents, and community disasters.
- Notify department directors and executive administration promptly regarding significant patient care concerns and operational challenges.
- Model professional nursing standards and clinical excellence while supporting hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain regulatory readiness and uphold standard hospital protocols across all clinical units during assigned shifts.
Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher from an accredited nursing program.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (CPR) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Demonstrated nursing leadership or management experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, patient care standards, and healthcare computer systems.
Nice to have
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Prior experience as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor or House Supervisor in a high-volume medical center.
- Demonstrated background leading disaster management protocols and hospital incident command systems.
Work environment
- Full-time, fully on-site position based at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, California.
- Assigned to the night shift operating from 19:00 to 07:30 (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
- Scheduled for 6 shifts per two-week pay period, with rotating weekend coverage required.
- Fast-paced acute care hospital setting requiring frequent interdepartmental mobility and rapid decision-making.
