In this full-time second-shift position, you will be responsible for the critical maintenance and repair of HVAC systems within airport hangars at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. You will handle the entire lifecycle of equipment management, from initial installation and troubleshooting to performing routine preventive maintenance on various refrigeration and heating units to ensure continuous operations in a high-stakes aviation environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and install complex HVAC equipment including compressors, condensers, and heat exchangers.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance inspections on refrigeration units and evaporative coolers to prevent system failures.
- Utilize a computer-based CMMS system to manage work orders, track labor hours, and document parts usage.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues within air handling units and automatic control systems.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and inspectors to ensure all facility amenities remain operational.
- Follow blueprints and technical manuals to ensure all repairs meet relevant HVAC codes and regulations.
- Adhere to strict OSHA and PPE safety requirements while working on rooftops and in mechanical rooms.
Qualifications
- You must hold a valid EPA Certification and a professional HVAC Certification.
- A minimum of four years of hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems is required.
- You must have a high school diploma or an equivalent educational background.
- The ability to pass a background check and obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clearance is mandatory.
- You must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to pass the airport's SIDA badge and driver's tests.
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 pounds and work comfortably at elevated heights such as ceilings and rooftops.
Nice to have
- Previous experience working in an airport or large-scale industrial facility is highly beneficial.
- Advanced proficiency in navigating and managing complex CMMS platforms for asset tracking.
- Strong technical expertise in specialized refrigeration and forced air conversion units.
Work environment
- This is a 100% on-site role located at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
- You will work the second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
- The work involves exposure to various weather conditions and mechanical or electrical hazards.
- You will be part of an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance situations.
- The role requires frequent standing, kneeling, and climbing ladders in a fast-paced environment.
