In this role, you will serve as a highly skilled field technician responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial door systems, gates, and industrial dock equipment. You will be tasked with diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring all work meets rigorous safety and building code standards while providing high-quality service to a diverse client base in the Jacksonville area.
Responsibilities
- Install and troubleshoot a variety of automatic doors, access control systems, and low-energy pedestrian door hardware.
- Diagnose and perform routine repairs on door-related components including broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical elements.
- Configure and set up door hardware such as handles, closers, and low-voltage access control systems.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all service visits, diagnostic findings, and completed installations.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on all repairs to ensure they meet the company's established performance standards.
- Communicate directly with customers to explain repair processes and offer cost-effective solutions for technical issues.
- Operate a company-provided vehicle and power tools to perform field service tasks safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
- You must have at least 4 to 5 years of experience specifically within the commercial door service industry.
- You possess strong mechanical and technical skills including the ability to perform mathematical calculations and read tape measures accurately.
- You are physically capable of lifting items weighing over 50 lbs, climbing 20-foot ladders, and working on your knees for extended periods.
- You hold a high school diploma or equivalent and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- You demonstrate proficiency in electrical gate automation and low-energy gate operator systems.
- You have the ability to pass a mandatory drug test, background check, and motor vehicle records review.
Nice to have
- An AAADM certification is highly preferred for this technician role.
- Previous experience with glass and storefront glazing or aluminum commercial doors is a significant advantage.
- A desire to learn or existing proficiency in welding for industrial door applications is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills for solving customer issues in a fast-paced field environment.
Work environment
- This is a full-time, on-site field position based in Jacksonville, Florida.
- Your standard working hours will be between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- You must be available to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation as required by customer needs.
- The work environment is fast-paced and results-oriented, requiring you to drive a company vehicle to various job sites.
- You will be expected to adhere to a strong safety culture, including the use of company-provided safety gear and protocols.
