In this per diem night shift role, you will provide critical cardiopulmonary care and diagnostic testing for patients at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital. As part of the Desert Care Network, you will work under the direction of the Medical Director to manage heart and lung disorders through clinical interventions, blood gas analysis, and EKG performance while maintaining a high standard of patient advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver cardiopulmonary care to patients with respiratory disorders based on specific physician orders and department protocols.
- Perform routine calibration and quality control procedures for blood gas analyzers to ensure accurate diagnostic data.
- Conduct diagnostic testing of the cardiopulmonary system to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung conditions.
- Execute EKGs and other respiratory diagnostic procedures as required by patient care plans.
- Communicate clinical information effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary medical teams.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and monitor patient outcomes to ensure high-quality care.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health management using active listening and teaching skills.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Care program and a valid Associate's degree or professional certificate.
- Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (R.C.P.) in the state of California.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (CPR), ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a clinical environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to direct patient care.
Nice to have
- Previous experience working in an acute care hospital setting or a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Advanced proficiency in operating a variety of modern blood gas analyzers and respiratory diagnostic equipment.
- Demonstrated commitment to healthcare equality and experience working with diverse patient populations.
Work environment
- This is an on-site, per diem position located at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, California.
- The role requires working night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30 (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
- You will work within a clinical team environment as part of the larger Desert Care Network, serving the Coachella Valley.
- The hospital setting is a professional, fast-paced environment requiring the use of protective medical gear and specialized equipment.
