Food Delivery Driver

Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for the vital task of delivering food and materials to Head Start locations across Clackamas County. Working 36 hours a week, you will ensure that perishable goods are transported safely and punctually while maintaining strict adherence to sanitation and health department standards. You will serve as a key link between the organization's central kitchen and the community centers that support local children and families.

Responsibilities

• Operate agency vehicles safely and in accordance with all local laws and safety regulations.
• Deliver food and materials to designated Head Start locations while strictly following assigned timelines.
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the delivery vehicle interiors and kitchen equipment.
• Ensure the safety of perishable foods by documenting delivery temperatures and proper handling techniques.
• Purchase and pick up necessary supplies from various local retailers and wholesale vendors.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including refueling and reporting needed repairs to the Facilities Manager.
• Collaborate with diverse staff members to provide supportive services to children and community members.

Qualifications

• You must possess a U.S. High School Diploma, GED, or have the ability to complete a GED within one year of hire.
• You need at least two years of driving experience and a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.
• You must be able to physically lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.
• You are required to obtain and maintain an Oregon Food Handler’s Card and First Aid/CPR certification.
• You must maintain compliance with the State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry.
• You need the ability to follow oral and written directions to fulfill logistics and safety duties.

Nice to have

• Oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
• Experience with defensive driving techniques, particularly in inclement weather conditions, is beneficial.
• Prior experience working within a non-profit or educational environment is a plus.

Work environment

• This is an on-site position based in Lake Oswego with daily travel to various off-campus locations throughout Clackamas County.
• You will work a fixed schedule of 36 hours per week and are expected to maintain regular, predictable attendance.
• The work involves physical activity including sitting, kneeling, bending, and heavy lifting in a potentially fast-paced environment.
• You will operate within a professional team setting that requires maintaining high levels of confidentiality and ethics.
