Overview
In this dual-functional role at a new El Segundo location, you will have the opportunity to serve as the face of the brand or the engine of the kitchen. You will focus on delivering high-quality Tex-Mex hospitality, ensuring that every guest feels at home through attentive service or by preparing fresh, handmade menu items with precision. The role is centered on the 'SHINE' philosophy, which prioritizes care, respect, and excellence in every interaction. You will work within a collaborative environment where team members support one another across various stations, from the front door to the kitchen line. Whether you are guiding guests through the menu or maintaining strict sanitation and recipe standards in the back-of-house, your primary goal is to contribute to a seamless and welcoming dining experience in a fast-paced, high-energy setting.
Responsibilities
- Execute various service roles including front door greeting, beverage preparation, running food, and bussing tables with care.
- Maintain expert knowledge of the menu to guide guest selections and accurately communicate allergy information.
- Ensure all food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures by regulating kitchen equipment and performing regular line checks.
- Follow strict sanitation guidelines and cleaning procedures to maintain organized storefront, bathroom, and kitchen areas.
- Collaborate with team members to meet shared objectives and assist with the training of new staff.
- Manage time efficiently to fulfill daily checklists and take initiative on tasks assigned by shift leadership.
- Utilize the Kitchen Display System to understand and prepare orders accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications
- You must be available to work a minimum of five days per week, including weekends and varying shifts.
- You need the physical ability to remain stationary for over six hours and lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
- You must possess a strong passion for food and hospitality with a focus on guest relationship building.
- You should have the resilience to troubleshoot issues calmly and communicate with honesty and transparency.
- You must have the manual dexterity required to manipulate kitchen tools and move safely through a busy restaurant environment.
Nice to have
- One to two years of experience in the restaurant industry with guest-facing or kitchen roles is preferred.
- Previous experience working with a diverse team in a high-volume hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with Tex-Mex cuisine and standard kitchen equipment like griddles, fryers, and ovens.
