Overview
In this role, you will act as a vital link between the credit union and its members by managing the end-to-end processing of consumer loan applications. You will be responsible for reviewing applications for accuracy, verifying documentation, and ensuring that every file meets strict regulatory and internal policy standards before funding occurs. Your work ensures that members receive timely and professional service during their borrowing experience. You will work closely with the VP of Lending and other internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth loan disbursements for products such as auto and personal loans. By maintaining meticulous records and navigating various financial systems, you contribute to the overall efficiency and integrity of the lending department while providing clear updates to members throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Review loan applications for completeness and accuracy while gathering all necessary supporting documentation from members.
- Prepare comprehensive loan document packages ensuring full compliance with credit union policies and federal regulations.
- Maintain consistent communication with members and loan officers to provide status updates and resolve outstanding requirements.
- Input accurate loan data into the credit union's core systems to maintain organized and current digital records.
- Coordinate the final funding and disbursement process for approved consumer loan products.
- Verify applicant information through various third-party sources and internal verification protocols.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to resolve member inquiries throughout the lending lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in loan processing or a closely related role within a financial institution.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) at a minimum.
- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated understanding of consumer lending principles and the regulatory requirements associated with credit union operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on professional member interaction.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.

- Prior experience working specifically within a credit union environment.
- Familiarity with specialized loan processing software and core banking systems.
- In-depth knowledge of specific consumer products such as auto loans and personal lines of credit.

- This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California.

- The role is classified as a non-exempt, hourly position with a standard 40-hour work week.
