In this role, you will join a multidisciplinary street medicine team dedicated to delivering integrated healthcare directly to unsheltered populations in the San Diego area. You will work in nontraditional settings such as encampments, shelters, and vehicles to provide primary care, mental health services, and substance use disorder treatment to individuals facing significant health inequities. As an early member of this program, you will act as a clinical leader and community advocate, bridging the gap between marginalized individuals and the broader healthcare system.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and patient history screenings in nontraditional field environments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to identify clinical problems and develop appropriate health care plans.
- Prescribe medications and recommend therapeutic procedures for acute illnesses and chronic disease management.
- Conduct safety assessments and evaluate the need for medical or psychiatric admissions for high-risk patients.
- Coordinate with internal health professionals to ensure integrated treatment plans for mental health and substance use disorders.
