Overview
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in creating exceptional dining experiences for senior residents in an upscale community setting. You will balance direct service with supervisory duties, ensuring that meals are delivered professionally while meticulously attending to individual dietary needs and personal preferences. Your presence will help foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where you can build meaningful relationships with residents and mentor fellow team members. Beyond front-of-house service, you will act as a key leader within the culinary department, assisting with staff scheduling, section assignments, and the coordination of special events. In the absence of the Culinary Director, you will take charge of the dining room flow and supervise the server team to ensure all safety, sanitation, and service standards are consistently met. This position offers a blend of hospitality management and hands-on service in a purpose-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet residents and guests warmly to establish a positive and professional dining atmosphere.
- Take accurate meal orders and deliver food and beverages promptly while adhering to specific dietary requirements.
- Direct the service flow and supervise front-of-house staff when the Culinary Director is unavailable.
- Prepare the dining room by setting tables with appropriate linens, glassware, and utensils before each meal service.
- Assist with the setup, service flow, and breakdown of special community events and celebrations.
- Monitor food handling procedures to ensure compliance with local health department regulations and safety standards.
- Communicate resident feedback and special requests effectively to the kitchen staff and culinary leadership.
Qualifications
- You must have at least three to five years of experience as a server in a full-service restaurant environment.
- A High School Diploma or an equivalent educational qualification is required for this role.
- You need the ability to work a flexible full-time schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for interacting with senior residents and team members.
- You must be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Two or more years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a restaurant setting is highly preferred.
- A current Food Handler Card and a solid understanding of kitchen sanitation codes are significant advantages.
- Prior experience working within a senior living or healthcare dining environment is beneficial.
