Overview
In this leadership role, you will provide critical operational support and strategic direction across all New Life Centers locations in Chicago. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's strategic priorities are met while overseeing essential departments such as IT, facilities, safety, and office management. Your work will focus on driving operational excellence and fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture that empowers staff and enhances the organization's impact on the community. You will act as a central figure in managing daily operations, requiring you to travel between various sites to provide direct oversight and support. By analyzing current systems and implementing process improvements, you will help the organization scale effectively. This position places you at the intersection of strategic planning and hands-on management, making you a vital partner in the organization's long-term success and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee daily operations across all organization locations to ensure alignment with strategic goals and policies.
- Provide leadership and management for departments including IT, facilities, transportation, and safety.
- Research and recommend process improvements and operational solutions to increase organizational efficiency and scalability.
- Lead and coach a team of directors and operational staff, promoting professional growth and accountability.
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and landlords while overseeing lease agreements and contract administration.
- Assist with annual budgeting and monitor departmental spending to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for urgent operational matters and lead site transitions or relocations.
Qualifications
- You must hold a degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- You need between 6 and 10 years of progressive operations or organizational leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience leading managers and cross-functional teams is required.
- You must possess strong project management skills and experience with budgeting and contract administration.
- A valid Illinois driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record are necessary for regular site travel.
- You must be able to clear comprehensive background checks, including criminal and child abuse tracking system checks.
Nice to have
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant management field is highly preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is an asset for communicating with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing operations across multiple physical locations is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with nonprofit grant compliance and government-funded program audits will help you excel.
Work environment
- This is an in-person position based in Chicago, Illinois.
- You will be required to travel regularly between various organizational sites to provide operational oversight.
- The role follows a full-time, 40-hour per week schedule, though some meetings may occur outside standard business hours.

Benefits & growth
- The annual salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $105,000, commensurate with your experience.
