Responsibilities
- Perform functional testing of turbine control systems and safety circuits before grid connection.
- Calibrate pitch and yaw systems to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance and structural integrity.
- Execute high-voltage electrical terminations and verify grounding system continuity.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults identified during the initial startup sequence.
- Document all commissioning activities and test results to meet regulatory and manufacturer standards.
- Collaborate with crane operators and construction crews to guide the final assembly of turbine components.
- Conduct safety inspections and verify that all mechanical fasteners meet torque specifications.
Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary program in wind energy technology or industrial electricity.
- Global Wind Organisation (GWO) certification for basic safety training and working at heights.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading complex electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
- Experience operating industrial diagnostic tools and supervisory control and data acquisition systems.
- Physical ability to climb vertical ladders exceeding 300 feet multiple times per day.
- Valid driver license and the ability to travel extensively to remote project sites.
Nice to have
- Advanced certification in high-voltage electrical safety and switching operations.
- Previous experience as a wind turbine service technician or lead installer.
- Specialized training in specific turbine manufacturer platforms such as Vestas, GE, or Siemens Gamesa.
