Remote Payroll Director

Overview

Responsibilities

• Direct the global payroll strategy to ensure accurate and timely compensation for all organizational employees.
• Develop and implement comprehensive internal controls to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Oversee the selection and integration of third-party payroll software and enterprise resource planning systems.
• Manage relationships with external tax advisors and government agencies during complex audit procedures.
• Lead a team of remote payroll managers and specialists to standardize administrative workflows across the organization.
• Analyze payroll data to provide labor cost insights and budget forecasts for executive leadership teams.
• Establish standard operating procedures for executive compensation, equity-based payments, and fringe benefits.

Qualifications

• A minimum of ten years of experience in payroll management with at least five years in a senior leadership capacity.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-state and international payroll tax laws and labor regulations.
• Proficiency in managing large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle.
• Hold a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation from the American Payroll Association.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing payroll for organizations with more than five thousand employees.
• Mastery of financial reporting standards and internal audit protocols.

• A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources Management.
• Experience managing payroll during complex corporate restructuring, mergers, or acquisitions.
• Professional certification in project management or Six Sigma methodology.
• Familiarity with global payroll consolidation and international shadow payroll processes.
