Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response protocols for radiological and nuclear incidents.
- Coordinate the mobilization of technical strike teams and equipment during active hazard situations.
- Liaise with federal, state, and local government agencies to ensure a unified command structure.
- Analyze technical data from field sensors to assess the magnitude and trajectory of radiological threats.
- Oversee the training and certification of emergency personnel in hazardous material handling.
- Manage the procurement and maintenance of specialized radiological detection and protection equipment.
- Conduct post-incident debriefs and forensic analyses to improve future response strategies.
Qualifications
- A bachelor or master degree in nuclear engineering, physics, or emergency management is necessary.
- Extensive experience in radiological safety or hazardous material response operations is required.
- Certification in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) or equivalent command structures is mandatory.
- The ability to obtain and maintain high-level government security clearances is a standard requirement.
- Proficiency in using specialized radiation monitoring software and GIS mapping tools is essential.
