Museum Exhibit Developer

Overview

Responsibilities

• Define the educational objectives and narrative arc for new temporary and permanent exhibitions.
• Collaborate with curators and subject matter experts to select and interpret artifacts or scientific data.
• Manage project budgets and timelines from initial design through to the final installation phase.
• Draft technical specifications and creative briefs for external fabrication teams and multimedia vendors.
• Lead cross-functional meetings to ensure architectural, lighting, and accessibility standards are met.
• Analyze visitor feedback and engagement metrics to iterate on exhibit layouts and interactive elements.
• Supervise the installation of physical structures and the integration of digital interfaces on the museum floor.

Qualifications

• A bachelor or master degree in museum studies, design, education, or a related field.
• Proven experience in project management within a cultural or educational institution.
• Proficiency in design software and tools used for spatial planning or technical drawing.
• Strong foundational knowledge of pedagogical theories and public learning standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors and contractors simultaneously.
• Experience drafting interpretive text and instructional content for public consumption.
