Founder-in-Residence, Biotech Venture Builder
Building and launching new biotechnology companies based on validated scientific breakthroughs.
Overview
This career involves a fast-paced transition from laboratory discovery to corporate entity. Daily activities center on evaluating the technical feasibility and market potential of specific biological targets or technologies. The rhythm is dictated by scientific milestones and fundraising cycles, requiring a constant balance between deep technical analysis and executive-level networking with academics and investors. Successful individuals in this field bridge the gap between high-level science and business operations, often moving from a single project to a permanent CEO or COO role once the company matures.
The day-to-day experience is characterized by intense problem-solving regarding regulatory pathways, patent landscapes, and experimental design. Interaction with key opinion leaders in academia is frequent, as the FIR must secure licensing agreements and recruit scientific advisors.
