Director of Clinical Applications

Overview

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the long-term roadmap for all clinical software applications across the healthcare organization.
• Manage the departmental budget for software licensing, maintenance agreements, and third-party consulting services.
• Lead a team of application analysts and project managers in the deployment of system upgrades and new modules.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders to ensure software configurations align with patient safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the training and support infrastructure for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
• Analyze system performance metrics and user feedback to identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Coordinate with information security teams to protect patient health information and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, computer science, or a related clinical field is essential.
• Extensive experience managing enterprise-level Electronic Health Record systems such as Epic, Cerner, or MEDITECH is required.
• Proven experience in healthcare IT leadership or project management is necessary for this senior role.
• Strong understanding of clinical workflows and the regulatory landscape of the healthcare industry is mandatory.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical implementations is required.

Nice to have

• A Master’s degree in Medical Informatics or Business Administration is highly preferred.
• Professional certification such as Project Management Professional or Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems is beneficial.
• Previous experience as a licensed clinical provider, such as a nurse or pharmacist, provides a significant advantage.
