Custom Van Conversion Consultant
Guides the technical design and installation of off-grid systems and interiors for mobile living.
Overview
The role involves a mixture of architectural planning and mechanical engineering, focusing on the unique constraints of small-volume mobile environments. Consultants spend significant time analyzing electrical load requirements and spatial blueprints to ensure safety and functionality in diverse climates. The work requires a deep understanding of lithium-ion technology, inverter systems, and the structural limitations of various vehicle chassis types.
Daily activities center on troubleshooting technical roadblocks and optimizing floor plans for maximum utility. The rhythm fluctuates between deep research into new component technologies and client-facing advisory sessions. Success in this field depends on an ability to translate complex electrical and carpentry concepts into actionable plans while maintaining a meticulous focus on safety standards and weight regulations.
Responsibilities
- Calculate comprehensive electrical load requirements for off-grid solar and battery systems.
- Draft detailed 2D or 3D floor plans that optimize limited interior square footage.
- Evaluate vehicle specifications to ensure conversion designs remain within safe gross vehicle weight ratings.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues related to heating, ventilation, and pressurized water systems.
