Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to optimize upstream cell culture conditions and downstream purification steps.
- Operate and maintain complex bioprocessing equipment including bioreactors, filtration systems, and chromatography columns.
- Analyze process data using statistical methods to identify trends and ensure batch consistency.
- Draft technical reports and standard operating procedures to document process changes for regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to oversee the tech transfer of developed processes to large-scale facilities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues arising during the scale-up phase to prevent production delays.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to improve bioprocessing efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field.
- Extensive experience with aseptic techniques and cell culture maintenance in a laboratory or pilot plant setting.
- Proficiency in operating Tangential Flow Filtration and Liquid Chromatography systems.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical production.
- Experience using statistical software for design of experiments and data interpretation.
Nice to have
- A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with a focus on metabolic engineering or protein chemistry.
- Prior experience with Quality by Design principles in a commercial manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with automation and high-throughput screening technologies used in bioprocessing.
