Overview

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized imaging equipment to document surgical procedures and clinical findings accurately.
• Capture high-magnification images of cellular structures and biological specimens through light or electron microscopy.
• Process and archive digital assets according to medical privacy regulations and institutional standards.
• Collaborate with medical staff to determine the best visual approach for documenting rare pathologies or new techniques.
• Maintain and calibrate sensitive optical and photographic equipment to ensure consistent image quality.
• Prepare visual materials for medical journals, textbooks, and professional presentations.
• Manage the cataloging and retrieval systems for an institution's entire medical image library.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in biological photography, biomedical communications, or a related scientific field.
• Extensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Proficiency in professional digital imaging software and specialized medical asset management systems.
• Documented experience working within sterile surgical environments and adhering to hospital protocols.
• Current certification as a Registered Biological Photographer (RBP) or equivalent professional credential.
• Mastery of macro-photography techniques and controlled lighting for clinical subjects.

• Experience with 3D medical imaging and forensic photography techniques.
• A master's degree in medical illustration or biomedical visualization.
• Advanced skills in high-speed cinematography or thermal imaging.
